Siobhan started dancing at age 5 with training in classical ballet, jazz and some tap and studied modern dance in college. An East-West College of Healing Arts graduate in 1997, it was at this time that her passion for Oriental dance awakened. Siobhan’s dedication to artistry, fitness and health has continued through completing training certification programs and academic study trips to Egypt, and continuing education in China, Thailand, Turkey and in the USA. She attends international workshops and seminars to enrich her knowledge and skill of Middle Eastern dance, music and culture with renowned artists and teaches yoga classes for dancers at Sphinx Festival in Egypt.
In January 2012, Siobhan completed the ISOC (Intl. Saray of Oriental Culture) 160 hour Oriental Dancer/Teacher Training Development Program by Prof. Dr. Hassan Khalil in Cairo, Egypt and Brussels, Belgium earning the title;
‘Specialty Teacher for Oriental/Middle Eastern Dance and Egyptian Folklore.’
She is currently studying in a 2 year language program in Modern Standard Arabic.
In November 2011, Siobhan was featured as a yoga and dance instructor in Keti Sharif’s world-class, ‘Pulse8 Elements’ bellydance fitness instructional DVD filmed in LA. In 2012, Siobhan co-teaches the fitness training program with Keti Sharif in San Francisco, CA and Egypt.
As a health care professional of over 13 years, she has completed over 700 hours of education classes in anatomy, kinesiology, body mechanics, preventative self-care, healing modalities including acupressure, Thai bodywork, Shiatsu, and second-degree Reiki energy work. Helping inspire others to build and maintain health and fitness is her primary aspiration as a Certified Yoga Instructor and Healing Arts Practitioner.
Siobhan has been teaching weekly classes and workshops in Yoga and Oriental dance since Sept. 1998 and is owner of Galactivate Studio in Corvallis, Oregon since Jan 2005. Her teaching approach can best be described as ‘wholistic’ as she fuses art, cultural knowledge, history, and body science helping people to experience the various aspects of understanding the disciplines, and most important, have fun while doing it!
An award-winning performer, Siobhan shares with audiences the emotive, artistic expression and healing of the dance as well as to honor the cultural legacy and our common bonds as people around the world. Her mystical stagecraft combines emotion and spirit and she is seen performing around the Pacific NW and abroad.
Siobhan’s commitment to service through art has also produced a series of dance showcases fundraisers to animal welfare and humanitarian organizations. Her latest community service program she calls, ‘Classes for a Cause,’ where she is donating all proceeds to a local animal shelter.
